Short description: Working group 1 of Cost Action PEARL PV aims to develop generally accepted approaches and guidelines for the collection of data about the performance of PV modules and PV systems for the whole Action. In this seminar, we will therefore aim at making an inventory of relevant PV research questions and gaps in knowledge in order to set requirements on data to be collected and analyzed. All WG leaders of this Action will therefore present an overview of the state-of-the-art of research in the field of the specific WG, and in a discussion session with attendees, a set of questions and data will be drafted. Together, they will form the basis of data collection of WG1.

Among others results will be presented of a questionnaire which was recently developed and sent out among partners to identify required and available data. All partners had implicitly (and/or explicitly) research questions in their mind while filling out the questionnaire by identifying data to be either absolutely necessary, highly desired, or nice to have (or even not required). This demonstrates that rather than collecting as much data as possible, it is imperative to ask research questions first and subsequently define the required data set that would allow answering the questions properly.
